More Fun Flowers

Ink,Watercolor & Pencil

And the fun continues! I had so much fun playing around in my previous post I kept the flow going. I also dragged out my Hydrus Liquid Watercolors on this one. Beware - the intensity of these babies can overwhelm pretty quickly! They can be thinned with water and mix pretty well with all other brands of watercolors - both tube and pan. I have read that the probability of them fading is pretty real. All watercolor art can fade eventually so it’s best to frame original watercolors with UV protective glass. But hey- for just having fun in your sketchbook they are worth a try. The same process and supplies in my previous post were applied. I have these things set up on my drawing board now so I can just sit down when the mood strikes and start playing around.

This was done in my new Ranger Sketchbook. It’s nice weight and will be perfect for travel sketching, It has a little manilla envelope attached on the inside cover and an elastic to keep it all shut. I love the weight of the paper - it can take a lot of abuse without warping and does not bleed through to the next page but it’s a little more creme colored than I like. Watercolors just pop and become so much more vivid on a bright white paper. I do enjoy the texture though - it’s hot press and smooth and I love the way watercolors sit on hot press paper. I think I will keep going in this book with more flora and fauna. It’s great for use with markers, acrylics and Neocolor crayons too as I did here in this previous post and this one.
