Ink & Watercolor

Every now and again I have a burning desire to drag out my watercolors. I began my art career with watercolors and I never tire of the way they behave and misbehave. So fun to see how some colors granulate and mix with others. Here I used a variety of inks- Dr. PH Martins Bombay, FW Acrylic Inks and Liquitex Acrylic Inks which do not move once you put them down so once they dry you can go over them with ink or colored pencil, more watercolor or acrylic - anything goes. I had fun going back in with my favorite dip pen and using the ink dropper itself to draw and scribble. I did this in an Arteza mixed media sketchbook. I’ve been preferring a fluid, hot pressed paper lately but this was a nice cold pressed surface so the colors granulated and absorbed more into the paper. The white accents were done with a Gelly roll pen. I think I may have eve used some Derwent Inktense colored pencils with this one. They blur nicely when it with water and I also love dipping them in the water first and then drawing with them. Just have a fun play with everything you can get your hands on. Play. Play. Play!
